Discipline-kind, firm correction

Very aha/encouraging moment after reading life study application bible this am on proverbs 29:15
"The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother."
The lsab says "Parents of young children often weary of disciplining them. They feel like all they do is nag, scold, and punish (oh YES!!!) When you're tempted to give up and let your children do what they want, or when you've ruined your relationship with them (oh yes :( ) remember - kind, firm (opposite of what I do) correction helps them learn, and learning makes them wise. Consistent, loving discipline will ultimately teach them to discipline themselves (amen!!!).

Need to remember this many, many times a day. Especially with Trey as he is relentless in continuing to verbally fight in very loud words and expressions what he want ax

Father/Daughter Sock Hop

Katherine and Bobby got to go to the Father/Daughter Sock Hop at Crosspoint church.   I bought them tickets for Christmas.  What a special time!!  Katherine got a 50s poodle skirt, glasses and scarf for the night.  She was talking about it for days.  Bob took her to Chick-Fil-A for dinnre first and then off to the dance.  Her friends Carson and Maggie were there with their dads and they had a blast.  How did they get so old already??

I think playing around like this was their activity for the night.

Wills 1/2 Birthday - 1/7/13

Today Will is 10 1/2. I can't believe it!!! It is also the last day of Christmas break. K is in school so I took the boys and the girls on our block, Meera and Claire, to Sky Zone and then to CFA.

Here's Will in the 2nd pic on our way to SZ riding shotgun, reading his new art book I got him for Christmas while everyone else is having fun in back of truck. So Will!! So much of a solo guy. I love him so!!

On our way home, he got a lot more comfortable and silly and doodled a mustache and beard on himself and put on my glasses.  He then did some silly move and everyone in the car laughed.  A great way to end the trip.  They were all so good.  Trey brought MLB Played Spot It and they played it at CFA.I said they were on a "double date".  None of them liked that!!  Trey was really good at explaining game rules to everyone.  So patient and so thorough.

Great Quote abt mistakes

What do you do with a mistake? Recognize it, admit it, learn from it, forget it.
