Katherine

When Bobby and Trey joined us at Wills game, in Bobby's arms, she said "I'm so happy we are all together again." What a cutie!!! She, of course, melted his heart!!
(I do say that to the kids when we drive home after work and school. They are getting some of my positive influence after all!!)

Will's first game pitching this season

Will got into the game as pitcher in bottom of second to last inning. when coach stringer called him to the mound he ran so excitedly to the mound. i was so proud oh him!!! he looked great and no runs came into the game while he pitched. his team took the lead in the last inning (first time all game) and Will closed the game without letting anyone score. At home, after his shower, he said "I'm happy mom."

You always beat the rest." Then she replied "mommy when I wear my pink sneakers i run so fast and I beat everyone!!" So literal!!

Scrapbooking at Round Top

Every year in February and August I go on a scrapbooking retreat with my friends from church.  It is one of the best weekends of the year for me!  Mona Howard first invited me and I've been going for about 5-6 years now.  I don't scrapbook but spend my time organizing my on-line photos, making digital books and now I am putting togther picture albums.  I just want to keep everyhting current and hope to one day have more time to make it pretty.  The girls here are so creative and make beautiful books!
Besides scrapbooking we laugh, talk, eat, shop, read, nap, run and get massages.  It's heaven for me!!!
Here's a picture of our group at the trip this weekend.  Only 6 more months until I am back!

Will sweet comments to me!

Over the past few months, Will has been very affectionate to me.  Kissing me and hugging on me lots through the day.  He has such juicy lips!!!  He has also been very sweet in some comments lately.  He always thanks me for making dinner and one night after dinner he said "Thank you Mom!!  Good as usual!!"  Last week he was laying in bed and Bobby said "let me put your medicine on."  He said "no mom did it because she's a great mom!"  Aw!!

Bobby reading to Katherine by flashlight

Before leaving for work, Katherine insisted that he read her a book by flashlight.  And he did!!

Trey buys book for Katherine

Although Trey can really be a pest to his sister, he is very thoughtful at times.  The author of "Coach Sloth" came to read his books to the 2nd graders and Trey really loved hearing him and his stories.  The kids had an opportunity to purchase an autographed book by Coach Sloth and Trey wanted to buy one for Katherine.  He was very diligent about making sure we put the order in, he even filled out the form himself.  When he gave the book to Katherine he wanted to read it to her.  It was a 3D book that's why Katherine is wearing 3D glasses.  A sweet moment!  I'm sure they were fighting within 5 minutes!!

Trey Ripsticking!

Trey has always been well coordinated and very athletic.  When he was 3 years old and we moved to Bellaire, all our new neighbors were amazed at how fast he was on his scooter.  When he was 4 and in preK, he was given "speeding tickets" by the parent and teacher volunteers during Wheel Day.  When I went to pick him up that day at school, all the parents who had worked Wheel Day stopped me to say how fast and good Trey was on his scooter.  This continues on today!!!  During Christmas break, he taught himself how to ride the ripstick and he does great on it.  On our trips to the park that week, he went via ripstick.  He loves it!!

Valentine's Day (John 3:16) from Miss Barbara

Will & HIs Sweet Valentine's Day Cards

I had bought Will Kit Kat's, his favorite candy, to give out to his classmates for Valentines Day.  They already had "To: and From:" on them so all you needed to do is fill that out.  Will asked me where the cards werre.  I said the Kit Kats were the cards.  He said he wanted to write his own cards for his friends.  I got a little annoyed with him because I thought I'd have to go back out and find him some cards but no, he wanted to make his own.  He got some index cards and taped a Kit Kat to each card and wrote a special message to each friend and drew a little something on each of them - a moustache, the logo of a team they liked, etc.  On the cards he wrote "I think you are awesome!", "You're a good friend!"  He specialized each one.  It took him a while to do 25 cards but he really enjoyed it.  He said "Mom being creative is fun."  Such a sweet boy!!!

On Valentine's Day he said to me "mom I think there's a package or something outside.  You should go see."  I went to the front door and on the mailbox was a pink envelope and in it was a valentine from him.  He said "happy valentines day mom!"  Aw!!   Later, I had him do it for Bob.  So thoughtful!!

Trey being Trey and Will telling me how to parent him

Last week me and the boys stopped by Kroger's to pick up a few things before going back to WUBC to get Katherine.  She wanted to stay there and play in the playground with her friends.  Well while we were in Kroger Trey knocked down three different displays and rode on one of those motorized carts.  Will turns to me and says "Mom when are you going to start doing something about him.  His behavior is unacceptable."  This event describes their personalities to a T!!!!

Discipline-kind, firm correction

Very aha/encouraging moment after reading life study application bible this am on proverbs 29:15
"The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother."
The lsab says "Parents of young children often weary of disciplining them. They feel like all they do is nag, scold, and punish (oh YES!!!) When you're tempted to give up and let your children do what they want, or when you've ruined your relationship with them (oh yes :( ) remember - kind, firm (opposite of what I do) correction helps them learn, and learning makes them wise. Consistent, loving discipline will ultimately teach them to discipline themselves (amen!!!).

Need to remember this many, many times a day. Especially with Trey as he is relentless in continuing to verbally fight in very loud words and expressions what he want ax

Father/Daughter Sock Hop

Katherine and Bobby got to go to the Father/Daughter Sock Hop at Crosspoint church.   I bought them tickets for Christmas.  What a special time!!  Katherine got a 50s poodle skirt, glasses and scarf for the night.  She was talking about it for days.  Bob took her to Chick-Fil-A for dinnre first and then off to the dance.  Her friends Carson and Maggie were there with their dads and they had a blast.  How did they get so old already??

I think playing around like this was their activity for the night.

Wills 1/2 Birthday - 1/7/13

Today Will is 10 1/2. I can't believe it!!! It is also the last day of Christmas break. K is in school so I took the boys and the girls on our block, Meera and Claire, to Sky Zone and then to CFA.

Here's Will in the 2nd pic on our way to SZ riding shotgun, reading his new art book I got him for Christmas while everyone else is having fun in back of truck. So Will!! So much of a solo guy. I love him so!!

On our way home, he got a lot more comfortable and silly and doodled a mustache and beard on himself and put on my glasses.  He then did some silly move and everyone in the car laughed.  A great way to end the trip.  They were all so good.  Trey brought MLB Played Spot It and they played it at CFA.I said they were on a "double date".  None of them liked that!!  Trey was really good at explaining game rules to everyone.  So patient and so thorough.

Great Quote abt mistakes

What do you do with a mistake? Recognize it, admit it, learn from it, forget it.
